Jeon Hansoo grows up the darling of his family. Smart enough to get a scholarship to a prestigious school in America, and strong enough to make the move on his own. He does well, even gets himself a job that pays well enough to send money back to his only close family, his mother. Then, he turns 27. And in the span of a year, it all goes away. He loses his job, his mother. Stuck with nowhere to go, he accepts a job at his aunt’s clementine farm in Jeju Island, Korea. With no experience with farmwork or life in rural Korea, the proof-of-concept follows his struggles to adjust to his continued failures at this new task as he tries to process his next steps forward.
At the root of it all, “Clementine Farm” is a film about the process of learning that you are loved.
